Downers Grove Home With “Scenic View of Airstrip”

Home staged in Downers Grove

You see RVs in peoples’ driveway.  Boats, too. Why not a private plane? Especially when you live on a private airstrip, your plane is your car?  We could have taken the airplane motif and played it out with airplane accessories and art, but as they say in the Midwest, that would be like “Clown Pants”. Instead, we focused on this Brookeridge Airpark community home’s exposed brick walls, stained beadboard ceilings and beautiful wood floors.

Staged home on airstrip in Downers GroveWe removed the hanging lamp as it simply interrupted the view and dictated both the size of the table and the eating area. With a simple ceiling mounted piece, we found we could locate the table anywhere, and the whole living area opened up.

Using sky blue accents, people got the point of the airstrip view subliminally. Isn’t it fun to see the plane through the windows, parked outside?

On the formal side of the house, we used a soft gray palette:

Chicago suburb Downers Grove

The gentle pops of a soft, summery green, with calla lillies and ivy provide classic, traditional notes to this transitional look. This gray rug is a favorite, as is the calligraphy chair.

This is a great home for more than aviation enthusiasts. It has been recently renovated; the hardwood floors are new. With 5 bedrooms, there is room to spare. A first floor study fits  today’s lifestyle perfectly. The exposed beams are completely on trend. A big clock and a spindly office table speaks to the current Urban Modern Organic fashion in home decor without going too far in any direction. They should appeal to our target buyer, most likely a family moving from the City.
