Before & After Built-In Bookshelf Staging

An intentional and well-thought-out home staging plan can truly bring each room of a house to life. Without the proper staging, a room may barely get a glance from prospective buyers. Whereas a sophisticated and luxurious design increases the perceived value, while amplifying the purpose of each room.

With the right furniture and details assorted throughout a room, buyers will want to stay and hang out for a while.

Here’s an example of how Chicagoland Home Staging designed a room with a beautiful built-in feature wall to feel warm and highlight the elements of the space.

Before Built-In Bookshelf Staging

Before a room is staged — or if a room is not staged at all — it can be difficult for buyers to imagine how they would spend time in that space. And unless buyers hire their own interior designer to curate each room once they move in, Chicagoland Home Staging can inspire them on how to make it feel like home, post move-in.

The first thing one might notice in this room are the built-in shelves and large windows. At this angle, the fireplace is off to the side rather than being the focal point (like this Before & After we did previously).

While coming up with a plan for this room, our designers also took note of the contrast between the bright white walls against the dark wood floors. With the built-in shelves and tall windows playing as the focal point in this space, our designers wanted to play off that to create a warm and inviting space to gather with family or relax with a book.

After Built-In Bookshelf Staging

With the addition of furniture and accessories, this living room feels brighter and cozier. The light shining onto the couch illuminates where the buyer would sit and read.

It’s all about the details…

  • Setting the light tone
  • Soft furniture and accessories
  • Wooden accents

Setting The Light Tone

The addition of the see-through lamps lets more light into each corner of the room and adds an airy ambiance. These lamps also allow your eyes to easily see everything on the shelves, from any angle.

Soft Furniture And Accessories

The charcoal-colored couch and chairs creates a contrast from the while walls, and the rug, couches, and pillows bring a touch of softness into the space. Our designers decorated the build-in shelves and tables to tie in with the furniture by using the same tones and materials. Sculpture artwork, books, small plants, and memorable keepsakes add to the idea of what this living room could be for the right buyer. The right number of accessories keeps the eye moving throughout the room, without busying the space too much.

Wooden Accents

Warmth reverberates in pockets of the room with lightly stained wooden coffee and end tables. Wooden accents are repeated in varying placements of décor on the shelves. One of the benefits of wooden pieces like the ones used in this space is that it brings elements from outside, inside — such as the trees that can be seen from the windows.

Staging a home is like painting a picture that shows the value of a home. You can really amplify the usage of each room in a home with a luxurious design in toe.
