Before & After Family Room Staging Spotlight

When staging a home, it is imperative that you take time to refresh each room within the property to create one cohesive modern look. In fact, we know buyers are more drawn to make an offer on homes that feel fresh, clean, and elegant. Neutral, modern furnishings throughout a space will provide buyers to look at the space with a fresh start.

At Chicagoland Home Staging our team recently had the opportunity to stage and revamp a beautiful home in the Hinsdale area. Here is an exclusive sneak peek behind how we transformed this family room that was under contract in 2 days and sold for over $2.3 million dollars.

Before: Family Room Staging

This family room features French doors, lots of windows, and high ceilings with crown molding. Before our team staged this family room, it was painted green and furnished with a brown sectional sofa and dark wood tones. The large, sectional that floated in the middle of the room, ate up precious square footage and somewhat blocked the view through the French doors.

While it was uncluttered and easy for buyers to envision the functionality of the room, the design style was particular to the previous owner. Our home staging team decided to create a staging plan that would play off the unique features of the room while maximizing a light, bright, airy feel.

After: Family Room Staging

After home staging, the family room appears more sophisticated, bigger and of course, brighter. Our designers kept the home seller’s large wooden coffee table in the center of the room and removed additional furniture to reset the furniture layout, while utilizing our rental furnishings. The walls were painted a neutral tone, instantly transforming the space.

On either side of the fireplace, our team used two deep-seated neutral sofas to create a cozy, conversation area. They also placed two matching side tables and table lamps near the fireplace to create a symmetrical look. The area rug brings all the neutral tones positioned in the family room together.

Overall, the home staging of this family room provides a balance of light, fresh ambiance. The white, beige and gray neutral colors in the furnishings is the perfect backdrop to the red fireplace brick, and stained wood floors, building materials that steal the show in this room. In a family room like this, potential buyers can envision themselves conversing with loved ones and unwinding with family next the fire.
