Naperville Living Room Staging: Before & After

Today, we are taking an exclusive look at a recent before and after completed by Chicagoland Home Staging. This one features a large living room with high ceilings and an ornate fireplace!

When designed correctly, this living room staging became a feature space that impressed buyers and enticed a top-dollar asking price.

Living Room Staging: Before

Before the Chicagoland Home Staging designers put together a custom look for this living room, the room housed several pieces of mismatched furniture. Lacking a cohesive design, the living room felt disjointed and busy.

Dark furniture and separate seating areas made the room feel smaller and darker. Additionally, plants in front of two of the windows blocked some of the light from coming in.

The room had potential but was not quite ready for potential buyers to see themselves living in the home.

Living Room Staging: After

For the design of this living room, our designers decided to simplify the space and highlight the built-in features. With the fireplace as the natural focal point of the room, our designers focused on staging the room to have a central seating section. Your eye is now drawn to this new beautiful focal point!

Be Selective With Your Design Additions

While the window drapes and artwork above the mantle remain the same, the area rug, plants, and furniture were swapped out to continue the clean and cohesive design. As a bonus, having less décor in this staged room actually creates the impression of more space!

Create A Bright Environment

The staging for this living room allows it to feel much brighter, which also makes it look more expansive. This brighter feeling resulted from large white chairs that are lower than the windows, allowing more light to reach the entire living room.

By implementing a simple design with one or two natural colors and wooden accents, this living room went from feeling dark and cluttered, to fresh, bright, and luxurious.

Use Furniture To Accent Architecture

The rounded furniture offsets the sharp horizontal and vertical lines on the walls and ceiling and ties in with the rounded archway and fireplace cover. The soft chairs — with a blanket draped over one — adds a cozy and calming effect. Additionally, a tall green plant in the corner and a splash of green on the coffee table further enhances the fresh and luxurious look of this living room.

“Staging each room in a home can make all the difference in how a home is perceived on the market, which ultimately gets the home sold faster,” says Margaret Gehr, Founder and Co-Owner of Chicagoland Home Staging.
